Prevent Child Abuse America announced last week that the Healthy Families America affiliate, Northwoods Home Visiting has been accredited as a provider of quality home visiting services.

The service is designed to improve a child's health, nutrition and developmental outcomes and answer questions for new parents.

Northwoods Home Visiting spokesperson Deb Blackstone  says they work with families from the Riverside Clinic in Rhinelander.

Another center is housed in Lincoln county at the Family Resource Connection in Merrill. The agency serves families in Forest, Oneida and Lincoln counties...

Blackstone says the service helps expectant parents until the child is a little older...

"....we share with the family a curriculum we call parents as teachers.  It has developmental milestones as a base for the curriculum. When baby is six months old, we're bringing activities for parents to do to enhance the development of skills baby should be learning at that point...."

The program requires the service gets connected to the family before a child is born, providing information about health, nutrition and development. She says the also connect parents to resources that might help them. Deb Blackstone says call her at Northwoods Home Visiting at 715-261-2887 if you want more information.
