Public Invited Wednesday To Invasive Species Meeting In Woodruff

If you're concerned about invasive species, a meeting in Woodruff Wednesday(3/21) will provide you with much information.

The Wisconsin Headwaters Invasives Partnership is holding it's annual meeting at the Woodruff town hall with a series of free public information sessions in the morning. The morning session provide the public with updates on number of invasive and non-invasive topics says Oneida County Conservationist Michele Sadauskas...

"....we're going to hear how pollinators are looked at.and worked into invasive species management. We'll have a presenter talking about the Spread Eagle Barrens Natural Area and how they do invasive species control at a state natural area. We'll have information on Emerald Ash Borer and Oak Wilt...."

The Spread Eagle Barrens State Natural Area is near Niagara in Marinette county. They’ve had success with their management of invasives and they will give landowners some insight into to work with grants and how to get things done.

She says citizens can come in and put on a map a place they might have seen some invasive species....

"...involving, engaging the public and having the conversation about, 'hey, what's up in the Northwoods? What's affecting our forests and our fields and are there some little actions that each of us can do to make things better?'..."

The Sugar Camp Elementary students will present their conservation-themed speeches.

Lunch will be served to attendees and the whole event is free. Registration begins at 8:30a.m. The WHIP partnership will have their annual meeting in the afternoon. More information is on their website whipinvasives. org
