Mountain bike enthusiasts will be gathering this Sunday near Rhinelander to try some of Oneida county's best trails.

The second annual RASTA Rally Mountain Bike race will be held Sunday afternoon  at the Washburn Lake Silent Sports Trails Area.

Rhinelander Area Silent Trails Association   maintains the mountain bike, snowshoe, and hiking trails at Washburn Lake and Mud Lake in Oneida County with race proceeds funding maintenance and trail building activities says spokesperson Suzanne Flory.
She says there are options for participants...

"....we have a short course which is good for people just getting into mountain biking, it's about 8 miles, uses some single-track and two- tracks, that race will take about an hour. The long course uses a lot of the Washburn single tracks and more of that two-track. That's about 16 miles...."

There's also a free short course race for kids up to 11 years old is held after the main event.

Flory says spectators are welcome. She says you can register online at rastatrails.org or you can register at the Perch Lake shelter off Highway "K" west of Rhinelander.
