Red Cross Opens Relief Center At Bad River

American Red Cross

For the past week, the American Red Cross has joined with other relief agencies to offer support for people affected by the flooding on the Bad River Band Reservation.

Spokesperson Barbara Behling says the Red Cross relief team has been fully activated. She says Tuesday and Wednesday, the Red Cross is offering help for people severely affected by the flooding...

"....we have what is called a multi-agency resource center where we have a number of community organizations, governmental agencies and of course we are there to support the clients. We have a 'one-stop-shop' to help them get back on their feet...."

The resource center is located inside the Bad River Band Tribal Community Center. Behling says if a home has been destroyed or is full of muck, relief workers will help affected residents with housing options. She says a chain saw team is available, along with food assistance and other shelter needs, including helping residents find lost medications.

Behling says the services are free to those affected and the only way the Red Cross can provide services is if they get financial help or volunteers. More information is available atredcross.org
