The Rhinelander Area Food Pantry and the Rouman Cinema are sponsoring their 6th annual Cantastic event, but are in need of more teams. Director Guy Hansen says there are five teams registered to compete February 27, but are looking for at least one more team. Cantastic is a competition area businesses showcase their talents by constructing sculptures made with canned foods. The creations are judged based on color, creativity and other features. Hansen says this year’s theme is “drive out hunger,” and all food used will be donated to the food pantry.
“…those structures are going to be up for two weeks and people can vote by putting a box or can of food infront of that structure. Last year we generated almost 5,000 pounds of food between the structures that were built and the voting.”
The competition is open to any group or organization in the Rhinelander area.
