The Rhinelander District Library Board has selected a new Director.
Board President Jan Baer made the announcement....
"....we have hired a new library Director and that person's name is Virginia Roberts. She is currently the Director at the Chippewa Falls Public Library. But she wants to come closer to family who live in the general area here..."
Former Director Ed Hughes left in May for a library job in Mississippi.
Baer says Roberts has extensive experience and degrees for the position...
"....because of the size of the library, we are required to have a grade on librarian which means they have to have a Master's Degree in Library Science. Virginia also has a Master's Degree in Art. That would be very useful too, because we have an exclusive and very good collection of art in our library..."
There were 12 applicants for the job and four were selected to be interviewed.
Roberts is expected to start at the Rhinelander District Library in late October. Children's Services Director Tom Hurlburt has been interim Director.
