The possibility of a dog park in Rhinelander got a major boost Monday on two fronts.
Tina Werres and other citizens has been collecting money over time to build the dog park. She says they've collected $2,000 to date which has been set aside in a city account. She says the delay in developing the park has been finding a concensus where to put the park.
Werres told a city committee Monday night that a generous donor has come forward....
"....recently, a private donor, who wishes to remain anonymous was asking me what happened with the dog park and that person has given us $10,000 to be a seed fund along with the money we had previously collected which is $2,000."
When Werres arrived at the committee meeting, she discovered two representatives from Petco were there and pledged support for the project. Werres says after many years of trying to get the park to become reality, she's excited.
".....there are several options of locations in the wind. But we're going to honor Petco's wishes depending on how much they want to get involved. There's more news in the future and I'm excited. It's been a long road..."
Werres says after many years,
".....I don't know to what extent Petco wants to get involved or what they want to do, but I know it's going to be a good thing and this dog park is finally going to happen...."
Werres says there are several options to locate the dog park that will need city council approval.
