Rhinelander's city council recently approved a five-year plan designed to provide a type of business plan for future grant writing.

City Administrator Kristina Aschenbrenner says the plan is designed to help the city look at outdoor recreation for the next five years. It gives a background on the type of outdoor recreation the city has had in the past, what now exists and future objectives....

"....(the plan)has five broad goals: the maintain existing park facilities, to create new park facilities, to promote outdoor recreational opportunities and to create new parks...."

A final key objective is to develop more walking and biking opportunities in the city. Aschenbrenner says the plan is a critical element to accomplish the outlined goals as it comes a type of business plan when applying for grants. One element is already underway as in 2016 the city will be working on a new bike trail along the Wisconsin and Pelican Rivers.
