Rhinelander Schools Investigate Photo-Sharing Incident

The Rhinelander School District and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office are investigating some inappropriate photo sharing that may have occurred between students using cell phones or other personal electronic devices.

According to a joint press release issued by the two authorities, the majority of the sharing occurred outside of school.

Rhinelander Schools Superintendent Kelli Jacobi says the situation calls for more than reprimand, and is an opportunity to educate youth about the dangers of this type of social media use.

The District will handle student behaviors that occurred during the school day, and will work with the Sheriff’s Office to determine if any violations of the activity code of conduct have occurred.

Violations of the law will be referred to the Oneida County District Attorney.
