Richard Pitts Bound Over For Trial In Forest County

Forest County Sheriff's Dept.

The husband of a former Forest county corrections officer will enter a plea to charges of receiving stolen property.
In court Wednesday, 59 year old Richard Pitts of Crandon was bound over for trial. Last October Pitts, his wife Jeanie, and another former Corrections officer, Melvin Donek of Argonne, were arrested on a variety of charges following a probe by outside law enforcement agencies. Richard Pitts is charged  with two counts as party to the crime of receiving stolen  property of more than $10,000 and party to misconduct in public office. All are felonies. Pitt's attorney argued the government with outrageous behavior in prosecuting Pitts. Judge Leon Stenz denied that motion, and found probable cause to continue proceedings against Richard Pitts. He will enter a plea on April 22.

Individuals in Brown and Forest counties were also arrested as part of this investigation and face state and federal charges.

Jeanie Pitts on Monday was also bound over for trial , her arraignment is April 8.

43 year old Melvin Donek has entered a not guilty plea to related charges and will next be in court May 6.
