Tommy O's Playhouse Hosts First Annual Medieval Faire

Tommy O’s Playhouse is putting on their first annual medieval faire in Hazelhurst this weekend and it has drawn people from near and far. Lumberjack Andrew Jensen says he traveled nearly three hours to perform a show equipped with axe throwing, hot saws, chain saws, tree climbing and log rolling.

“We do a lot of the old time events that they used to do back in the day. When the lumberjacks would get done with work for the winter and they would gather the logging towns and they would say ‘my camp is better than yours’ and ‘no! mine’s better than yours,’ ‘we can chop faster, we got a guy that can saw faster and climb faster than your guy…”

Jensen says he’s been training for and performing in lumberjack shows for three years.

Shows run every hour at the faire such archery and crafts.  The event runs through Sunday. Gates are open from 10 am to 4 pm.
