Two Lac du Flambeau men are in custody and a charging decision will be made concerning several alleged burglaries in Vilas and Oneida counties.

Minocqua Police report 23 year old Joseph J. Mitchell and 33 year old Robert J. Smith have been arrested for an alleged string of burglaries along the Highway 70 corridor in the two counties. Minocqua Police say they will be recommending to the Oneida County District Attorney's office 12 counts of burglary, and 11 counts of theft of moveable property for each man. The burglaries occurred in the town of Minocqua last December and into January. Charges of possession of drug tools and intentionally neglecting a child will also be asked on Mitchell.

Mitchell and Smith are being held on probation violations in the Vilas County Jail in Eagle River. Lac du Flambeau Police also have referred burglary charges to the Vilas County District Attorney for the break-ins that happened in Lac du Flambeau.

Minocqua Police say if you have been burglarized contact them or Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police for more information.
