Update: Sunday afternoon, the Vilas County Sheriff's Department identified the traffic crash victim as 75 year old Antoine E. Durocher of Three Lakes. 7:00 p.m.-- -- One person has died in a traffic crash in Vilas County over the weekend.

The Sheriff's Department reports about 6:30 Saturday evening a vehicle was southbound on Military Road in the town of Washington. The vehicle went out of control, crossed into the northbound lane and hit a tree. No one else was in the vehicle except the driver who died at the scene. The name of the victim had not been released as of Sunday morning.

Several area emergency responders were at the scene of the crash. Also, The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department reports an unidentified Rhinelander UTV operator was responsible for a small woods fire in the town of Harrison Saturday afternoon. Deputies report the operator was on an ATV trail when a gas can onboard popped out of a cargo box, spilling onto the hot engine. The UTV started on fire, so the operator tossed the gas container onto the ATV trail away from the vehicle. That caused a small woods fire.

The operator and passenger put out the fire, but the UTV sustained considerable damage. The operator received burns to both hands and the female passenger received burns to her left arm.
