The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods is participating in National Voter Registration Day next week and have set up several spots for people to register.

Chapter President Yolan Mistele says the day is a way to celebrate voting in our country...

".....locally we will be setting up our shops at various places in the communities . Two libraries,   Nicolet College and also the Senior Center in Rhinelander..."

Mistele say at the Rhinelander and Minocqua public libraries volunteers will be helping citizens use the state voter registration system.

Mistele says there are many people who should get registered...

"....anyone who has just turned 18 would be an obvious person. Anyone who has had a name change, or if you have moved since the last election. All of those types of people need to re-register if they haven't registered before...."

Mistele says registrants need to bring their driver's license, even if expired or revoked. The state registration system uses the driver's license to verify identity. You also need a proof of residence, such as a utility bill or similar documentation.

National Voter Registration day is Tuesday, September 23 and is sponsored by a number of groups including the League of Women Voters.
