Workers Memorial Day Noted This Saturday In Rhinelander

en.wikipedia.org

The public is invited Saturday morning to Pioneer Park in Rhinelander to remember workers who have died or suffered injuries on the job.

Jackie Cody from the Northern Wisconsin Center For Working People based in Rhinelander  says the day is meant to observe workers deaths and injury on the job....

"....it's to promote the fact that workers should have health and safety procedures at work to keep them safe, the employer with productive workers and families safe and secure, making sure when their loved ones go off to work they return...."

Numbers from 2013 indicate 96 Wisconsin workers lost their lives that year on the job and another 73,000 were injured or sickened at work.

The Workers Memorial Day Service is set for 11 a.m. Saturday in Pioneer Park. The Workers Memorial  is located near the park entrance in a grove of pines.
