WXPR would love to have you help us with our news coverage!
We have a few dedicated "stringers" or reporters, in some, but not all of the larger communities in the northern and central Wisconsin. A stringer finds stories they hear about in their communities, or possibly will get an assignment from the news room, to cover meetings and events. The job pays a small amount for the stories that are broadcast or put on our website.
If you have a little bit of journalism or writing background, that is great. We will teach you how to turn a 'print' story into something that works for radio listeners. If you have some broadcast background, all the better.
We need stringers in Three Lakes and Eagle River, northern Vilas county, Ironwood and parts of the U.P., and southern Price county, but if you're interested, we'll find stories for you to cover regardless of where you're located in our coverage area.
