Reed Resigns from Rhinelander Chamber

Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new executive director.  Lara Reed announced her resignation today.

In an email to the Chamber Membership Reed said she has truly enjoyed her time and work at the Chamber.  She has been in the position since May of 2011. 

Reed will head to a position with Ministry Medical Group. 

The Rhinelander Chamber Board says it has begun the process to fill the position.

Reed’s last day will be January 10th.

Rhinelander Event Celebrates Logging Heritage

A new event promoting northern Wisconsin's logging heritage is coming to Rhinelander next summer.

Ken Krall talked with Chamber of Commerce Director Lara Reed about the Boom Lake Log Jam.

Reed says there will be things to do for the whole family.

Chamber Promotion Successful in keeping $$ In Area

Local merchants are working to have customer dollars stay locally instead of going out of town via the internet or buying in another community.

That's the thrust of a Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce promotion called "Chamber Bucks". Director Lara Reed says customers come to the Chamber to buy what amounts to a gift certificate there and then can redeem the Chamber Bucks at any participating chamber businesses...

Tourism Spending Makes Money: Reed

As the Oneida County Board recently wrestled to balance its 2014 budget, a proposed cut would have struck $10,000 from the county tourism council's budget.

Rhinelander Chamber Director Lara Reed said cutting the promotional budget for tourism could hurt the local economy as tourism revenue generates tax base...

 

"....travelers in Oneida county spent $185 million dollars(this year)...that's $5,193 dollars for every man, woman and child in the county. Traveler spending supports 2,070 full-time equivalent jobs..."

Country Fest Wields Economic Clout

Rhinelander is about to get hit with a wave of country music fans, during the area’s biggest tourism event. 

  The four-day Hodag Country Festival begins Thursday, and tens of thousands of people are expected to attend.  Director of the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce Lara Reed says the economic impact on the region is huge.

“We say for every visitor that spends the night in our community, it’s $180 a day. So if we say there’s 20,000 people for Hodag Country Fest, it’s a $3.6 million impact a day for the duration of the festival.”
