Tomahawk Police to Carry Naloxone

Jun 15, 2015

Tomahawk is joining the ranks of Madison and New York Police Departments in an effort to prevent heroin overdose deaths. Tomahawk police will carry EVZIO auto-injectors, which are pre-filled with the single-use doses of the drug Naloxone and function much like EpiPens. Naloxone temporarily blocks the effects of opioids like heroine and oxycodone so the recipient can breathe more regularly.

Two Lincoln county residents and one from Michigan are facing possible drug-related charges.

Merrill police report the arrest of 27 year old Michael Hedges of Tomahawk, 18 year old Jessica Rowan of Merrill and 28 year old Robert Sleik of Michigan.

Methamphetamine and multiple hypodermic syringes, and drug paraphernalia were alleged to have been found at a Tomahawk home.

The arrests come as part of a joint investigation involving Tomahawk and Merrill police departments, Lincoln County Sheriff's Department and the North Central Drug Enforcement Task Force.
